Art therapy has been shown to support a mindful awareness of emotions by fostering understanding through observation and expression. Art Therapy helps people process pain and realise inner peace by cultivating a different relationship with emotions. Clients experience the process of transformation through safely identifying, holding space for, acknowledging, and accepting very painful emotions.
In the acknowledging, acceptance, and expression of the pain, the dominant effect of pain can disperse and the person is then free to create a more empowered, resilient self-esteem, moving towards a focus of inner peace.
